The Patterns That Insight Alone Hasn’t Changed.
On the outside, things look fine. You're capable. You show up for people. You're the
one others come to.Underneath, something feels heavy. The same patterns keep repeating even though you can see them clearly. Emotions arrive as either too much or oddly out of reach. The coping strategies that carried you this far have stopped working, and you're not sure what replaces them.
There's a quieter question under all of it, and it's usually some version of:
Who am I underneath all these adaptations?
Reaching out for this kind of support can feel vulnerable, especially when you're the person who normally handles things. If you're reading this, some part of you is already looking for something different.
"I help people understand themselves deeply enough that lasting change becomes possible."
-Joanna Czub
What Brings People Here
I work with adults in Etobicoke and across Ontario who are navigating:
Trauma and past wounds — experiences that still shape how you feel, connect, and protect yourself today
Anxiety and emotional overwhelm — when your mind won't quiet down, or your emotions feel like too much
Relationship patterns — conflict, distance, or the sense that you disappear inside your connections with others
Grief and loss — of a person, a relationship, an identity, or a version of your life you expected to have
Life transitions — new roles, new places, endings and beginnings, and the identity questions that come with them
Family-of-origin patterns — emotionally immature parents, being the responsible one, love that came with conditions
A sense that something no longer fits — even when you can't quite put words to it yet
I work with both men and women, including people navigating life transitions, healing from past wounds, and anyone ready to understand themselves more deeply.
It’s Time To Remold The Pattern.
Most of the people I work with arrive already knowing a great deal about themselves.
They can name the pattern. They can trace it back. They've done the reading, listened to the podcasts, and can explain exactly why they do what they do.And they still do it.
That gap isn't a personal failure, and it isn't a sign that you haven't tried hard
enough. Insight lives in one part of you. The pattern lives somewhere older and
deeper — in your body, in your attachment history, in the protective strategies you built before you had any say in the matter. That deeper layer doesn't respond to being explained through logic. It responds to being met.
So while anxiety, or grief, or a relationship that keeps breaking in the same place is often what brings people in, it's rarely where the work ends up.
Over time, this work becomes about identity, attachment, emotion, and the relationship you have with yourself. I treat the person underneath the symptoms.
A Warm, Grounded Space To Explore Your Inner World
My approach is integrative and relational, which means the relationship we build together is at the heart of the work — not a technique applied on top of it.
Sessions are shaped around you, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Depending on what you need, I draw on:
Emotion-Focused Therapy
Learning to understand and work with your emotions rather than being run by them.
Internal Family Systems–Informed Work
Getting to know the different parts of you, including the protective ones that formed for good reason.
Person-Centred Therapy
You are the expert on your own life. I'm here to walk alongside you, not to hand you a plan.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Building steadiness and self-awareness in the present moment, in the body as much as the mind.
I'm not afraid to sit with you in the heaviness of your inner world. I'll meet you there with care, curiosity, and respect.
Hi, I'm Joanna
I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, practising in Etobicoke and online across the province.
I came to this work through a long-standing interest in what sits beneath the surface of how people live — first through art, then through psychology. I'm also a mother, an immigrant, and a partner in an intercultural marriage, which shapes how I hold
questions of identity, belonging, and family expectation when they come up in the room. They come up often.
What clients tend to notice first is that I don't flinch. Whatever you bring — however messy, uncertain, or hard to name — I'd rather meet it with you than tidy it away.
Sessions are available in English and Polish.

My Etobicoke Office
2425 Bloor St W, Suite 404
Etobicoke, ONI'm at Jane & Bloor, directly on the subway line — about a two-minute walk from Jane
Station. The building is easy to get to from Etobicoke, Bloor West Village, High Park,
and the west end generally, and there's parking nearby if you're driving.Appointments take place in a fully private room. It's a quiet, soft-lit space with
plants, natural materials, and some of my own artwork on the walls — closer to a
living room than a clinic. The room should feel like somewhere you
can put things down.
Prefer to meet online? Secure video sessions are available anywhere in Ontario, and many clients mix the two depending on the week and their availability.
Also in Mississauga. I see clients in person at 1420 Burnhamthorpe Road East (Burnhamthorpe & Dixie) as well.
What Working Together Looks Like
1. A free consultation.
We start with a brief 15-minute phone or video call. You can share what's bringing you to therapy, ask whatever you want to ask, and get a feel for whether we're a fit.
No pressure, no commitment, and no hard feelings if you decide it isn't right.
2. First sessions.
We go at your pace. Early sessions are about building safety and trust while I come to understand your story, your goals, and what you need from this space.
3. Ongoing work.
As trust deepens, so does the work. Many people find that over time they feel more
grounded, more connected to themselves, and better able to navigate what life brings.
Sessions are 60 minutes, usually weekly or biweekly, depending on what fits your life.

I typically have availability within a week or two. The fastest way to find out is to book a free 15-minute consultation and we'll go from there. If you can’t find a time that works for you, email me and I’ll help you out futher.
-
Possibly — and that's an honest answer rather than a hedge. A lot of people I work with have had therapy that helped them understand themselves without changing much. The work I do goes underneath the understanding, into attachment, emotion, and identity. Whether that's the right fit for you is exactly what the consultation is for.
-
Yes. Secure video sessions are available anywhere in Ontario, and many clients move between in-person and online depending on the week.

That's a reasonable place to be. The consultation is free and there's no obligation attached to it; plenty of people use it just to think out loud about whether now is the time.
You Don't Have To Have It All Figured Out To Begin.
My hope is that you feel safe enough to bring all parts of yourself into the room, including the ones that feel messy, uncertain, or hard to name.
If something here resonates, I'd be glad to hear from you. Book a free 15-minute
consultation whenever you're ready. There's no pressure, just a chance to see whether
we're a good fit.
